The plug has a donut-shaped cutout that lets a special new key be inserted, turned back to the drop point, and then used to snap a small ring wafer off into the cutout. That rekeys the core, so nobody on the construction crew still has access to the building once the job is done. The snapped-off pin and ring were left in the lock to show this feature.

The side pins are special too. These finger pins have an out-of-production coating that gives them a copper color instead of the usual silver.

The lock can be picked, just gently. As with any cutaway lock, the feedback will feel slightly off, and light tension is recommended to preserve the lock and maintain proper operation.

Jordan the Locksmith is a full-time locksmith and custom cutaway maker. He has been picking locks since around 2010 and has worked professionally as a locksmith since 2017. Jordan began making cutaways in 2019 as a way to better understand lock mechanics and improve his own picking, starting with simple hand tools before moving into more precise mill work. His cutaways are made to remain functional, clearly expose the internal mechanics, and hold up to real hands-on use.

All Chop Shop Customs are non refundable.
