Bypass Tools: Skip the Pins Entirely
Picking attacks the cylinder. A bypass attacks everything else - the latch, the bolt, the shackle, the hinges, or the actuator behind the keyway. When a lock or door has a mechanical shortcut, the bypass is usually faster than picking it, and this collection is every purpose-built shortcut we make.
Find the tool for the opening in front of you
- Latches and doors: the Credit Card Latch Slipper works non-deadlatched outward-opening doors; the Deadbolt Thumb Turn "J Tool" reaches through the gap on double doors to turn the deadbolt from the secure side; the Commercial Door Hook works commercial hardware, and the Air Wedge and Pry Bar make the gap you need.
- Padlocks: Padlock Shims attack the shackle, comb picks like the Quad Comb Set and Ergo Combs overlift the pins, and the Padlock Bypass Driver goes straight for the actuator.
- Warded and specialty locks: the Warded Pick Set and the Decoder Bundle open what pin tumbler picks cannot.
- Hardware itself: when the hinges are exposed, the Hammerless Hinge Pin Removal Tool removes the hinge pins and the door simply lifts away, no lock involved.
If you are new to bypassing, start with the tools that match the locks you already practice on - a padlock shim or comb teaches you the concept in minutes. And the standing rule applies: only open locks you own or have explicit permission to open.
